Ground-source and geothermal pipework depends on repeatable joints, organised circuits and accurate material scheduling. Early coordination between the design, drilling or groundworks team and the installer makes procurement and site work considerably clearer.

Translate the design into circuits and headers

Confirm the number and length of circuits, proposed header arrangement and the route back to the plant area. Distinguish between borehole, horizontal collector and header pipework.

Record pipe sizes and connection points in a schedule that can be checked against the drawings.

  • Circuit count and individual lengths
  • Collector and header diameters
  • Manifold or chamber locations
  • Transitions into the plant room

Plan every fusion operation

The joining method affects fitting selection, access and equipment. Consider how the installer will scrape, align, clamp and record each joint in the available working space.

For repeat connections, a consistent preparation sequence and suitable tooling help the team control joint quality.

  • Electrofusion or butt fusion by connection
  • Clamps and preparation tooling
  • Power supply and weather protection
  • Traceability and inspection records

Coordinate quantities and delivery sequence

Separate long-lead or specialist components from standard pipe and fittings. Phased deliveries can keep materials manageable where storage space is limited.

A drawing-based take-off provides a useful basis for checking circuit quantities, fittings and equipment requirements before mobilisation.

  • Pipe coils or straight lengths
  • Headers, tees, reducers and end details
  • Manifolds, valves and chamber components
  • Fusion equipment, generators and consumables
